For this story I chose to put it in the category of hard news. The story was about a very serious topic and it was something people care about and want to read about. For a woman having a baby, having the baby drug free is very important to a lot of mothers out there. It is a very serious topic that can affect the child and the mother for the rest of their lives. Mothers can be affected by postpartum depression and it can be very tough on them. I believed this to be a hard news story because of the seriousness of the story and the impact it has on the mother, children and readers.
Yes, I believe their was a clear bias in the story. The author showed two sides to the story by giving examples and real life stories of women who used drugs for their child and women who did not use drugs for their child. The author talked about how both sides were affected and the outcome of their decisions.
